Lots of Juncos around. They have spats and the winner is based on their pecking order but everyone seems to get some chow!

Juncos are a common visitor to my feeders, but they are not one of the species that spends the winter up here. Also, they do not visit my suet blocks at all, and while they do eat the sunflower seeds, they prefer the smaller rape and thistle seeds. They arrive fairly late in the spring, and leave fairly early in the fall. The first work I ever did on regional dialects of bird vocalizations was with juncos (Junco hyemalis ssp.)

I purchased a swiss army knife bag of birdseed this year to attract more varieties of birds. It must have 8 or 10 different seeds in it. I've never had Junkos before so it's WAD.
