I had some fun and I'm learning fast. This rifle like Accubonds and likes to jump a ways....about 70 thou. I started poorly and have it real close. Back Later.

Have you been smokin' that wacky weed again, Rick? I assume you are using the new '06?

70 thou is not a 'big' jump. It may be for you, but most factory Overall Length specs are AT LEAST 50 thou back of the MINIMUM factory spec on chamber length. Some are 100+ back. Personally speaking, I start between 30 and 50 thou off and move back in 30 thou steps.

Seating depth is mostly about adjusting bullet exit timing. Moving 'off the node' does not require small seating depth increments. The node timing separation for a 24" barrel, (based on the speed of sound in steel), is about 80 milliseconds. A 30 thou change in seating depth of a 180-grain Accubond in a . 30-06 with a 24" bbl changes the exit timing by only 60 milliseconds. Hence my 30 thou increments in seating depth.

Let's see some more dead targets.
