Cowboy A New "Twist" on Things

I'd like to pose a new question for some of you, maybe not so new for some others.

How does rate of twist affect byllet performance?

Paul, this is one I'd like you to answer specifically.

Example:

Old rates of twist for the medium .22 calibers have been rather slow...1 in 11" and so forth.

Now, as we modernize a caliber like the .223, we are seeing very high rates of twist. 1 in 9" is the norm now.

I have one that is an 8 twister, and recently got a new custom upper in .223 that has a custom Shilen 1 in 7" barrel.

OK, now here's the questions.

I don't shoot much but .55 gr. V-Max out of my rifles for coyotes and such.

What kind of terminal performance difference will a faster rate of twist make?
In other words will the bullet open up a bigger wound channel, or will it make the bullet expand more violently with a 7 twist as compared to a 9 twist?

Next Question...

Will a 55 gr. bullet that is easily stabilized at a 1-9 twist be less accurate, especially at long ranges due to the rapid twist of a 1-7"?

There's stories of long range accuracy being affected by, for lack of a better word, "overstabilization".

I appreciate your answers and experience!

Thanks

Barry
