Default Goodbye Photobucket

As of today, July 1, 2017, Photobucket now wants $400/year to allow you to post your pictures to "third party" websites - like THL. I never really liked PB, it was just convenient. Good bye and good riddance.

This MAY mean that ALL of the earlier photos posted here at THL that link to a PB account will "disappear". (MOST of mine!) At the moment, they are still here. I don't know how long that will last though.

I'm looking for another image hosting site. At the moment, we here at THL support images uploaded to the THL server. Currently, that restricts "live" images (ones you can see without clicking on the link) to ONE. Any more than one image and the server only displays the link. You have to click on it to see the picture that opens in another tab. I'll check into what it will cost to up that number of "live" views. Also, the more people that use the THL server for image upload, the more memory we have to pay for. Right now we have 'plenty'. If I alone have to move all of my Photobucket images to the THL server, 'storage' and associated costs will go up.

I'd say "Let PB know", but I don't think they give a Tinker's dam about what people think of their new policy. Their marketing people knew exactly what they were doing when they implemented this. The "thing" to do is simple abandon PB. The ONLY thing businesses today care about (listen to) is the "bottom line". Hit them where they hurt is about all us 'regular folks' can do.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful." ~ C.S. Lewis.

Do not confuse technical skill with wisdom. Paul Skvorc
