Default Loading For Shotguns - 1

I believe that my first reloading press might have been the MEC 600 JR. Over the years I've had any number of shotgun presses but I always came back to the 600 JR. When my sons were too little to do anything else I had them working the handle of my shotgun press that I mounted on a 1" piece of plywood and kept on the floor in front of the TV. We had a struggle over working the charging bar back and forth but they finally demonstrated that they could do it.

I used to shoot my share of Trap and the cases I used were the W-W AA Trap cases (red) that are 'compression formed'. Quite naturally, I came to use them in the hunting fields as well. They seemed to last for at least 10 reloads...and sometimes more. For Trap I used the #1 MEC bar which is for Green Dot and 1 1/8 oz. of 7 1/2 lead shot. It is the load that I still use.

Although I do hunt for Upland Game, I don't hunt for Waterfowl so much anymore. But I do have to say that, over the years, I have nothing bad to say about AA cases either in quality, the ease with which they reload and the simple task of finding a good load.

Here is a picture of a AA case 'compression formed' case. I would not reload (or hunt) with cases that had seperate base wads for any reason. My shotguns are old classics and are not worth risking.
