The greed caught up with Missouri
I believe that Paul said it best in 1 Timothy that "the love of money is the root of all evils".
Well it's happened here. The Game farm(Heartland Game Farm) on the Eastern side of the county imported a 30,000 dollar buck from Wisconsin, a known Chronic Wasting Disease(CWD) state and it got out of it's unregulated enclosure. Now we have 7 known cases of CWD within 25 miles of my farm. The MDC has killed nearly 1000 deer in 4 counties.......but this is all to no avail. CWD is here to stay and the goodie goodie MDC has already changed the hunting laws for this year here in NC Missouri:
1. The 4 point rule is rescinded.
2. No salt/mineral licks
3. A proposal to eliminate food plots is in the making, however, there is a conflict with current USDA CRP requirements.
4. All carcasses must be buried and no saws are allowed for cleaning deer. Meat must be deboned in the field and the carcass buried. I guess the average hunter will have to rent a Bobcat when deer hunting. Perhaps a new camo model will come out($67,000) which would act as a blind/burial machine.
5. Everyone knows the deer was imported from Wisconsin. There are no enclosure codes in Missouri, no DNA testing and essentially no other rules for hunting farms.
5. To date seven deer have been confirmed to have died of the disease in "free ranging deer" and over 1000 exterminated by the MDC.
Of course all this is in vain as there are no known cures, scientists have been trying for years to figure out the cause and antidote to no avail. Looks like my farm once a deer heaven is potentially a deer ****. Of all the places on God's green earth i would have never suspected this here.....until I found out that deer from known CWD states were being shipped here so some city guy could shoot a trophy deer......unregulated, no standards, no responsibility.......all for some lousy money. You were right Paul........Regards, Rick.
