Hi guys,

We had a discussion about barrel exports from the US I think it related to my Enfield No4 MkI which is now a designated tomato stake (I'm still considering your offer Rick of the replacement barrel but I'm a caretaker of this rifle for many years now and my friend and I have not agreed on a sales price as I'm in two minds to hold on to it).

Paul mentioned that barrels are now  a restricted item for exports for businesses but not for individuals. Now with that in mind I have two items of interest at Numrich. They are a Brazilian Mauser 1922 Carbine Reconditioned 19.5" 7 x 57 Barrel for $41.95 with an additional shipping charge of $1 and the other is a Dutch Hembrug Mannlicher Carbine 6.5 x 54R Barrel for $73.45 with an additional shipping charge of $1.

Now is there any chance I can send one of you gentlemen the money (including postage to you and postage to Oz) to purchase these barrels for me and then you would on forward it to me, or would that be too difficult. I would not want any of you to do anything that's not lawful. I would also cover any out of pocket expenses if this is out of your way to do.

Let me know your thoughts as I cannot get barrels for that price here and I have my eye on two carbine projects that these barrels would be perfect for.

Thank you for your assistance on this one.
Cheers
Jorge

Do tell Jorge. What is the project?
"Belief:" faith in something taught, as opposed to "knowledge:" which is awareness borne of experience.

Hello Jorge. I'll check with the ATF when they open and see what they have to say. Both barrels came off C&R rifles so I can't see a problem. Regards, Rick.

Mum's the word 22Hornet you'll have to wait till the procurements occur, otherwise it's just banter.

Rick thanks checking that up for me really appreciate it.

Well the ATF OK'd the transfer.........however, he gave me a number to call in the Department of Commerce. I talked to a polite young man who transferred my call to the expert in these matters. I got a recording and left a message at 1100 hours today.......he/she never called me back....soooooo, I'll try again tomorrow. In the mean time President  Obama violated his campaign pledge to end earmarks and signed a bill with some 8000 attached. This has not been a good day other than the moon set and sunrise at the same time......hint hint. Go to the campfire and check it out. Regards, Rick.

Rick, did you actually think any politician would tell the truth. They're all liars. There will be something in it for him in the long run. Never trust a socialist.    ..........Paul H

This is not commerce, so DoC is not imvolved. The issue with Numrich, or ANYBODY ELSE that is IN BUSINESS, is that they are IN BUSINESS, NOT that it is a rifle barrel. Numrcih couldn't send chapstick to Australia without an import/export license. I, and no other citizen, have that restriction unless they are a licensed business.

I'll add my name to the list of those that would be happy to help in this matter.

Paul is probably right but I'm still waiting for the Commerce Dept to return my call. Might be a long wait. Regards, Rick.

I have shipped "things" as in hobby items, alloy castings and other innocent person to person  items to several countries, including SA, Zambia, NZ and even Canada.
No problems yet other than all the packages were opened and in 2 cases, part of the contents were missing.
