Well.... There's a great difference between "edible" and "good to eat". While lichen is "edible" - won't poison you - most of it is fairly tasteless. I think one could eat this without risk, but I also think it probably is next to tasteless.

It very well might. I won't know unless someone tells me. I did all my plant-eating experiments when I was young and brave.

Apparently caribou eat them without ill effects but some animals can eat things that would kill us. Seems rather odd but many odd things occur in nature. I don't think I would like a steady diet of them. Reminds me of mushrooms too much. I'm not overly fond of mushrooms either. .......Paul H
