Apical Meristem of Mugo Pine

Mostly, I take pictures of plants and flowers "for the record" or "posterity". As a result, they are rarely "art". A side benefit of taking those pictures is to get to look at them while steeped in the dead of winter. Here's a picture of the terminal end of a mugo pine (Pinus mugo) back on July 10th. And while this is hardly 'art', I do find it interesting.

It seems odd that nature produces some of  the most beautiful things in the world  in such a simple form. I find a bobcat staring at you from cover to be among the most beautiful animals in the world too. Others may disagree but most likely haven't encountered a Kentucky bobcat in the wild face to face at close quarters. ......Paul H
