12 ga sabot slugs for Elk?

Has anyone ever hunted Elk with a 12 guage shotgun using slugs?

I'm in indiana and we can only hunt with shotguns so I just picked up a savage 210f. This shotgun is so accurate I've been getting rid of all my other rifles because I just don't need them anymore.

I can't imagine that it wouldn't have enough power but I was hoping someone might have some first hand experience.
