Default 30 '06 Ackley Improved 40*

hey everyone,
im about to partake in building my first custom rifle, and have chosen the '06 ackley as my chambering. just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this round?? im looking to shoot bullets in the 165-168 gr range, barrel will be either Douglas or Shilen #4 taper 26" 1- 10 twist, will use a highly modified Boyds JRS stock with a also highly modified Mauser action. only thing set in stone so far is caliber, barrel taper and length, and using a Mauser action.
if anyone has any input, be my guest, just know that im not building a rifle because its cheaper than buying one or anything like that, im just doing it because i want a hunting rifle that is mine, and is fitted to me.
thanks to all
Daniel J. Ludwig
